About Me

Dr. Scott Krakower, Asst Professor, Author, Speaker, FounderDr.

Dr. Krakower maintains a private faculty practice in New York for youth and adults from around the country.  He has devoted his teaching career to understanding mental health in children and adults and studied early attachment to better understand progression of normative development in infants, children, and adolescents.  Dr. Krakower also learned how maladaptive mechanisms, in conjunction with neurobiologic underpinnings can alter the trajectory of development and emotional regulation.  Through additional medical training in addiction psychiatry and behavioral theory, clinical training in Tourette Syndrome and movement disorders,  and former directorship at the Mineola / Garden City community treatment center, he learned how to identify at-risk youth, adults, and veterans and how to combat progression to substance abuse disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. He also learned about video gaming and other behavioral addictions.

Dr. Krakower is currently assistant unit chief of Zucker Hillside Hospital and has published in journals for pharmacology and psychotherapy.   He writes blogs, conducts peer review, and provides expert opinion on topics impacting world health for the younger generation.  He participates in parenting groups and leads discussions for physicians, social workers, nurses, nurse practitioners, teachers, students, and unions.   He is an international speaker for symposiums and organizations.  He has been cited as a top physician in psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, trauma, and addiction disorders and is a distinguished fellow in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Krakower has been featured in the news including CNN, CBS, ABC, NY Times, Fox, WebMD, Healthday, NY Daily News, Reader's Digest, LiveScience, Newsday, Seattle Times, International Business Times, and Forbes.   He is a former Summa Cum Laude Graduate from the University of Florida where he designed a major in Structural Biology and X-Ray Crystallography.   He is a graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was Vice-President of the class.  He is currently President-Elect for the Greater Long Island Psychiatric Society.
